Lisbon, Portugal (5/7-11/2009) - Lisbon is Portugal’s capital and largest city.
We had only one day in Lisbon but did a bunch of cool things that we recommend (see photos).
We took a Disneyland E-ticket ride on the famous Tram #28 that takes you through the narrow winding streets, followed by a visit to the fairytale village of Sintra and the Versailles-influenced palace Queluz.
We also wandered (got lost!) the winding streets of the old colorful Moorish cobblestone Alfama, got caught in the rain in the pedestrian area Baixa, and had dinner in the Rossio Square, Lisbon’s main square.
Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, with a contemporary culture that is alive and thriving and making its mark in today's Europe. Perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon is one of the rare Western European cities that face the ocean and uses water as an element that defines Lisbon.
Lisbon enchants travelers with its white bleached limestone buildings, intimate alleyways, and an easy going charm that makes Lisbon a popular year round destination.
The Portuguese cities and towns are poorer than many other European countries but the people are friendly.
