Restaurant Awards: Gulddraken 2014

Winner of the luxury category: Oaxen Krog!

It is that time of the year when several prestigious restaurant guides/awards are announced... like the White Guide, Michelin Guide and Top 50 Restaurants. First up, however, is Gulddraken (the Golden Dragon) which is an annual prize awarded by the Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The awards are split up into different categories, like luxury, middle, budget. I do love the idea that these awards aren't only for the high-end gourmet restaurants. The winners this year, in each category, are:

• Luxury: The winner is Oaxen Krog. A great choice and fun for Stockholm as it is a relatively new restaurant (used to be located a bit further south of the city). I am guessing that they will be winning several awards this season. The other nominees were Restaurant Jonas, Mathias Dahlgren Food Bar, Ekstedt and Restaurant Frantzén. 
• Middle: The winner is Lilla Ego. I have heard good things about this place... time for a visit? Among the other nominees were Farang (a personal favorite), Oaxen Slip and Speceriet.
• Budget: The winner is Restaurant Voltaire. Popular vegetarian restaurant located in the PUB department store. The other nominees were Falafelbaren, Bun Bun Truck, Bierhaus and Babas Burgers & Bites. 
• Bar: The winner is Tweed. Definitely one of my favorite bars in Stockholm! Other nominees were Corner Club, Pharmarium, Nosh & Chow and Linje Tio (which I recently visited).

A special "guest dragon" was awarded by international food critic A.A. Gill to Oaxen Slip, the more casual sister restaurant to Oaxen Krog (winner in the luxury category).
